2023 REIQ Women in Real Estate Luncheon

The V & Co. Realty Team were inspired, motivated, and energised by the recent Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) 2023 Women in Real Estate (WIRE) Luncheon.

The 2023 REIQ Women in Real Estate Luncheon, held on International Womens Day in Brisbane, was a resounding success. The event was attended by some of the most prominent women in the real estate industry, including agents, brokers, property managers, and business owners. The V and Co. Realty team, Veronika, Steph, and Lyndsay, were extremely fortunate to attend the event and were motivated and inspired by the many incredible women in real estate.

The luncheon provided an excellent opportunity for women in the real estate industry to network, share experiences, and discuss the challenges they face in their day-to-day work. It was also an opportunity for attendees to learn from some of the most successful women in the industry and gain valuable insights into how to succeed in the highly competitive world of real estate.

The keynote speaker for the event, Janine Shepherd, was truly inspirational. Once an athlete, preparing to represent Australia as a champion cross-country skier in the 1988 winter Olympics, Janine’s life changed when she was hit by a speeding truck during a bicycle training ride in the Blue Mountains. Janine faced a daunting recovery and an uncertain future. Despite her heartbreak, she stated that “If I can’t walk, well then, I’ll fly”. With strong spirit and determination, Janine became a pilot and learned to walk again! Now an incredible speaker, coach, and author of multiple books, Janine emphasised the importance of perseverance, passion, and resilience in the face of adversity.

Other speakers included Lesley Ray, the Executive Manager of Philanthropy at Mater Foundation Brisbane, where she says she has the most incredible privilege of working with philanthropists to connect their values and motivations with Mater’s mission to provide exceptional healthcare, education, and world-leading research. In support, the REIQ WIRE luncheon raised money for the Catherine’s House for Mothers, Babies and Families at the Mater Mother’s Hospital.

The event was organized by the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ), which is committed to promoting gender diversity and empowering women in the industry. The luncheon was part of a broader initiative aimed at increasing women’s representation in real estate leadership roles.

The REIQ Women in Real Estate Luncheon was a success, highlighting the importance of empowering women in the real estate industry. By providing opportunities for women to network, share experiences, and learn from successful women, events like this are helping to break down barriers and create a more inclusive and equitable industry for all.

Overall, the 2023 REIQ Women in Real Estate Luncheon was a fantastic event that provided valuable insights and inspiration to women in the industry. With more events like this, the V and Co. Realty team will continue to grow, improve, promote equity and inclusion within the real estate industry, and continue to nurture a supportive and empowering environment.
